Bike service
We service bicycles of all brands, models and price ranges. Whether you’re riding a mass-produced city bike, a mountain bike that will endure the toughest challenges in the woods or a specially built road racer for super-fast races, we give your bike the same careful overhaul and service. Kevin will lubricate, adjust and tune your bike to suit your needs and desires.
If your bike is to be riden for many years it will require a dose of love, much care and regular maintenance. A preventive maintenance make the parts work well with each other and the bike will last a long time. You will also avoid any unnecessary accidents, damages and stops. A well lubricated and serviced bike will perform better and ride safer throughout the course of it’s life.
When to service your bike?
Prevention is always better than cure, and when it comes to your bike, there are some simple things you can keep track of every time you ride. An early checkup can extend the time until the next major repair. Keep a heads-up for these signs:
- A squeaking chain is a sign of inadequate lubrication.
- If the chain jumps off the train it needs to be adjusted or it could be worn and need replacing.
- Squeaking, screaming or jumping gears need an overhaul.
- The brakes should work smoothly, with just an easy pinch on the lever or the pedals.
- All wobbeling, squeaking and creaking should be investigated and addressed early.
These are clear signs that your bike needs a portion of love and maintenance. When we are done with the bike we complete a report, in which you can read about the measures we have taken and if we have found any discrepancies.
My bike is broken?
When we do regular maintenance on your bike, we can also repair or replace broken parts – if you want us to. Please observe that Kevin will not take any action on your bike until you agree on what to do and what it will cost. Repairs and spare parts are not included in the fixed price for maintenance service. Read more on Bicycle repairs.
Hero bike service
We have developed a perfect Hero bike service for all who commute via bicycle and only expose it to normal use. We guess that you use your robust city bike to take you conveniently to work or school and home again and sometimes use it for a nice Sunday ride.
You never do tricks at the action park, caress the asphalt in preparation for Tour de France or push your mountain bike to it’s limits in the woodland trails – right? Bike parkour and riding downhill is not your thing!
We recommend that you do a Hero bike service at least once a year or every 3000 kilometers. If you only use your bike during the summer months, it is appropriate to conduct a maintenance service in the early spring. That way your bike will be ready when you are going to hit the road again.
Before each ride remember “ABC”
A = Air: Does the tyre feel soft when you squeeze the sides? Are the tyres Worn? Keep your tyres inflated to reduce the risk of punctures.
B = Brakes: Does the brakes work correctly? Are the brakes / cables worn?
C = Chain: Is the chain Lubricated and clean?A rusty chain could make it harder to pedal and may even snap. While you’re down there, spin your pedals and check that the cranks don’t wiggle from side to side and that there are no grinding noises from the bottom bracket. Finally, If you have external gears make sure your derailleur – the device that moves the chain between gears – is straight and clears your spokes comfortably.
Check: Take a quick ride to check if gears and brakes are working properly. Inspect the bike for broken parts or loose parts?
